About Us

Our Mission

Consumer Recalls Canada exists because safety information should be free, fast, and easy to find. We turn government open data into a product Canadians can actually use.

Who We Are

Consumer Recalls Canada is an independent information service. We are not affiliated with the Government of Canada. Our team of developers and consumer safety advocates built this service because the official recall information — while publicly available — is hard to search, not optimized for mobile, and doesn't send alerts when something you own is recalled.

What We Do

Daily Updates

New and updated recalls appear on our site within hours of being published by the government. No manual effort required.

29,000+ Recall Pages

Every recall gets its own searchable page, optimized for the specific product name and hazard type.

Alert Emails

Subscribers get alerted within hours of a new recall matching their category or allergen preferences.

Free for Consumers

Consumer safety information should never be behind a paywall. Access to our full database, search, and alerts is free for individual consumers.

Our Data

All recall data is sourced from Government of Canada open data published under the Open Government Licence — Canada, which permits free reuse with attribution. Our data covers recalls issued by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) for food products, Transport Canada for vehicles, and Health Canada for consumer products, health products, and medical devices.

For information about our data sources and how we keep them current, visit our Data page.
